Sharpening Our Will Power In Order To Manifest Joy Every Single Day

I’ve had the pleasure of working with several shamans throughout my life, men and women of great wisdom and insight. One of the first teachings I received had to do with sharpening my will power. I would like to start with a car analogy to help us get a clear picture of what will power is and how it can serve our mission in life.

Our bodies are like the exteriors of a car, designed in different colors and sizes and shapes. Our minds are computers or engines inside these beautiful cars, processing a lot of different information all at once and making sure that all parts are running smoothly together as we navigate the roads ahead.

Will power is the driver in the driver’s seat, controlling the steering wheel and heading in a specific direction, alert and aware of all that is happening around. If will power is our driver in life then we need to be clear about how this driver operates and how to keep it one hundred percent efficient.

The First Rule

An important teaching I received several years ago is that if you want to get to your destination in life quickly and without any accident, you’d better be sober. If your will power is intoxicated and weak, evidently the outcomes in your life will be scattered and unclear and less successful.

So the first rule of sharpening your will power is to stay sober and maintain a strict discipline that will energize and invigorate you. That means health is your priority. Without it you will have a hard time enjoying life and accomplishing the things you desire to accomplish.

The Second Rule

The second rule in sharpening your will power is to have a map of where you want to go. When you jump in a car, you have a clear idea of where you are headed or you use your GPS to find where you are going. There is a start point and an end point, with some lights and stops along the way.

Whatever you want to manifest in life, be sure to have a good idea of how you will manifest this outcome. Draw yourself a map in your head or on paper of where you are headed, what tools you need to help you get there, who you can call on for help, and what type of attitude you want to be carrying around. Clear ideas and maps keep us from getting lost on the road in life; they help us save time and energy and efforts, and usually get us to where we want to go without too many complications.

Before jumping into any new artistic project, I like to sit and write out thoughts on paper. I write how long I think it will take me to reach my goal, what supplies I need, how much money it will cost, and who I can call to assist me on this new project. I look up information and research a lot to understand what I’m getting into.

With this plan in hand, I feel powerful and ready to confront the obstacles that might creep up ahead of me. When I jump in my car (when I activate my will power), it normally runs on full steam ahead and isn’t scattered, fragmented, or fragile.

The Third Rule

Sharpening Our Will Power In Order To Manifest Joy Every Single DayThe third rule in sharpening your will power is to surround yourself with the right environment that will help you reach your dreams and goals in life. Black ice isn’t fun on the road nor is it fun in energy. Black ice is what I avoid at all cost in my day-to-day existence. It might kill you in a blink of an eye.

There are people in life that are like black ice; they look safe and solid when in fact they are deadly to your will power and your mission. These people put fears into you or drain your energy or steal your power away.

Always try to drive in good conditions, on the road in your real car or in life. Surround yourself with uplifting, encouraging, positive people who will give you honest advice and support your dreams. The more you are surrounded with positive helpful people, the less you have to worry about hitting a brick wall or losing control.

Changing Your Environment and Taking Charge of Your Life

I had a close family member that always criticized everything I did when I was a young girl. Her dark criticisms weighed me down so much that one day, I felt frozen and couldn’t muster the energy to do anything anymore. The psychologist told me I was suffering from depression but that was an incomplete picture of what was happening to me.

I had to wait until I was eighteen years old to break free from that negative environment but when I did, life took on such a different color and intensity! Joy became my only mission and I learned to sharpen my will power in order to manifest joy every single day. Sometimes it isn’t easy to change our environment but it is crucial if you want to cruise along in a happy energy and have a good time.

Will power is our greatest friend in life. Don’t let anyone else take the steering wheel and tell you which direction to head in. Stay sober, have a clear idea of where you are headed, and surround yourself with a safe loving environment that will make the ride enjoyable and fun.
